GRIFFON VULTURE WATCHING – GUADALQUIVIR SOURCE – CHORRO – CERRADO UTRERO
Duration: approximately: four hours and a half.
Itinerary: the route starts at Vadillo-Castril, a path through an impressive limestone gorge that convey Guadalquivir river (Cerrada de Utrero); this path is optional. We’ll be able to appreciate in certain seasons the beautiful Waterfall of Linarejos; already in the car, we head to the historic Blacksmith Bridge (S. XV) for forestal trail near “Arroyo Amarillo” (Yellow stream), to reach the Birth of the Guadalquivir river 1400 m altitude). We’ll go up to “Puerto Lorente” (Lorente Pass), nearly 1800 m high, and will go down to the Chorro (Jet), where it’s easy to find griffon vultures and Egyptian vultures (alimoche). We’ll continue through “Riogazas”, leaving behind the beautiful panoramic of “Monastery of Montesión”, the “Gilillo”, “Peña de los Halcones” (Falcon Rock), Chapel of“Virgen de la Cabeza”, and the breathtaking view of Cazorla.
